- National Citizens Coalition for Nursing Home Reform (NCCNHR) - Organized in 1975, NCCNHR is dedicated to improving the quality of life for nursing home and boarding home residents and ensuring a consumer voice in the long-term care system. The organization's members include national, state, and local groups. NCCNHR's information clearinghouse is available to concerned families, citizens, groups, and professionals working in long-term care. NCCNHR analyzes legislative and regulatory developments to assist consumers in responding to proposed changes. Education and advocacy training is available for advocates and ombudsmen nationwide. NCCNHR also coordinates the National Long Term Care Ombudsman Resource Center.

- The National Center on Elder Abuse (NCEA), directed by the U.S. Administration on Aging, is committed to helping national, state, and local partners in the field be fully prepared to ensure that older Americans will live with dignity, integrity, independence, and without abuse, neglect, and exploitation. The NCEA is a resource for policy makers, social service and health care practitioners, the justice system, researchers, advocates, and families.

- Specialty Nurse Advocacy - Recognizing that 20% of the nation’s practicing nurses are specialty nurses, the Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing has partnered with specialty nursing associations since 1999 to enhance care to older adults by working with select specialty associations to develop and disseminate specialty-specific geriatric resources.
